How to Prep for a Tattoo
• Begin moisturizing the area 3 days before your appointment and keep the skin hydrated daily.
• Arrive clean and fresh to your session.
• Get a good night’s sleep and stay well-hydrated—drink plenty of water.
• Avoid alcohol and pain medications like ibuprofen before your appointment.
• Eat a full meal beforehand. Bring snacks and a water bottle for longer sessions.
• Wear comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the tattoo area. Dark clothing is recommended in case of ink transfer.
• Bring anything that helps you relax—headphones, a tablet, a book, or simply come ready to unwind!
Tattoo Aftercare
Proper aftercare helps your tattoo heal beautifully and last longer. Please follow these guidelines:

Second Skin:
-
Keep the Second Skin bandage on for 3–5 days, unless it becomes loose or irritated.
-
A buildup of plasma or ink under the bandage is normal—only remove it if it’s leaking or uncomfortable.
-
To remove:
-
Do it slowly, ideally under warm water.
-
Peel the bandage off like a command strip, NOT like a bandaid.
-
-
After removal, wash gently and follow the general aftercare steps below.
General Aftercare (Once second skin is removed)
-
Gently wash the tattoo with clean hands and a mild, fragrance-free soap.
-
Pat dry with a clean paper towel—do not rub.
-
Apply a very thin layer of a fragrance-free moisturizer or tattoo-specific ointment.
-
Keep the tattoo lightly moisturized 2–3 times daily.
-
Do not pick, scratch, or peel any flaking or scabbing.
-
Avoid soaking the tattoo (baths, pools, hot tubs, saunas) for 2–3 weeks.
-
Avoid direct sun exposure; after healing, apply sunscreen to prevent fading.
-
Wear clean, loose clothing over the area to reduce friction.
-
Stay hydrated and keep the area clean throughout the healing process.
